Panarea, located between Lipari and Stromboli, is the smallest island of the Aeolian archipelago. Together with several minor islands, Panarea forms almost an archipelago on its own, created by the scattered remains of an ancient idle volcano. The natural beauties make panarea really unique and attract high class tourists. Its 300 inhabitants live in three small districts: Ditella, S. Pietro and Drauto; the white houses, the most part of which face the sea, are linked the ones to the others by fascinating and narrow lanes, which give to the eye pictoresque panoramas. On the island there are shops, restaurant and hotels; one can go through the alleys by feet or by small electric cars, which are used as taxis or for carrying luggage. Marvellous depths are particularly fit for submarine explorations.
